The Guinness World Records' record for the largest smartphone ensemble is 223 people, in an event organized by Sohu IT and Vivo Xplay (both China) as part of the Vivo Xplay Mobile Music Festival at the Beijing Contemporary Music Academy in Beijing, China, on 15 June 2013.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest animated mobile phone mosaic consists of 400 smartphones and was achieved by China Unicom, Sohu IT and HTC (all China), using China Unicom's WCDMA HSPA+ network, as part of the inaugural China Smart Device Games at the National Olympic Sports Centre in Beijing, China, on 13 July 2013.

Kyocera Corporation (President: Goro Yamaguchi) today announced the launch of the new DIGNO rafre smartphone for KDDI Corporation — the world's first smartphone with resistance against foaming hand soap.

In addition to resistance against shock, water and dust, DIGNO rafre features hot water resistance that enables use while washing hands or taking a bath.

Furthermore, as the back face of the smartphone is coated with a "scratch-healing" material that allows everyday minor abrasions to self-heal, the DIGNO rafre can be used in pristine condition for a long time.

The new device has an elegant, sleek design with two-tone colors and easy-to-grasp round form which comes in three colors: Coral Pink, Cashmere White and Marine Navy and is part of the new KDDI lineup announced on December 3.

The Android 5.1 (Lollipop) powered phone has a 5-inch display, is 10.1 mm thick, features a 13-megapixel camera, and has 3,000mAh battery.

The smartphone, dubbed Digno Rafre, features a special touch screen that will work even when wet, withsmart sonic receivers preventing the speakers from being damaged during the washing process.

Though the phone can be washed, Kyocera has advised users to wash it with foam soap only. The Digno Rafre will be available from mobile carrier KDDI for around $460 in Japan.
