The Guinness World Records' record for the longest journey kite surfing by a team is 1184.86 km (736 miles, 639.36 nautical miles) and was achieved by team Kite The Reef: Phil Barton (UK), Nicolas Cole (Australia), Richard Hatherall (Australia), Nick Levi (Bulgaria), Jesse Richman (USA), Jason Rogers (UK),and Jessica Syne (Australia). The team surfed over the Great Barrier Reef from Vlasoff Cay to Cape York, Australia, on 13 - 21 August 2015.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the longest line of surfboards; it consists of 608 surfboards and measures 1,123.28 m (3,685 ft 3.53 in), and was achieved by the City of Newcastle (Australia) at Nobbys Beach in Newcastle, Australia, on 15 February 2015.

The previous world record of 29 hours and 27 minutes was set in 2014 by American Ben Shaw at Kure Beach, North Carolina.

The two-day and one-night event included an unofficial count of 455 waves — about one wave every four minutes — and a variety of weather conditions, which Enslin described as everything from "windy" and "freezing" to "calm" and "sunny." Supervisors closely monitored Enslin's attempt, allowing him breaks of only ten minutes every two hours.

Enslin raised 30,000 ZAR (Just over $2,000 USD) for the publicized session and will use the money to donate surf equipment, blankets, and canned food to underprivileged surfers and street children around Port Elizabeth in a partnered effort with the CYOH Surf Club.
