  Most people wearing Christmas jumpers: KU fans broke Guinness World Records record (VIDEO)

   LAWRENCE, KS, USA -- The Guinness World Records world record for the number of people wearing Christmas jumpers in a group has been broken by Kansas University (KU) basketball fans; the fans set a new record with 3,473, besting the previous record by 2,296 sweaters, according to the World Record Academy .

The Guinness World Records world record for the largest gathering of people wearing Christmas jumpers is 1,175, at an event organised by Loughborough University (UK) in Leicestershire, UK, on 10 December 2014.

     Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most people wearing red noses; it is 16,092 at the Credit Union Christmas Pageant in the city centre of Adelaide, Australia, on 12 November 2011.

    The previous Guinness World Records world record for the largest gathering of people wearing holiday sweaters was 1,175 set last Christmas season in the UK. Jayhawks took the title Saturday after 3,473 festive sweaters were donned at the game.

    Qualifying sweaters are anything with long sleeves and at least one holiday-themed item.
