 Most people firewalking: Eastbourne Scout Group sets world record

Eastbourne, New Zealand--More than 700 firewalkers walked through the bed of hot coals during the fundraising event organized by The Eastbourne Scouts
- setting the new world record for the Most people firewalking consecutively - single venue, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/. most people firewalking consecutively in Eastbourne

The Guinness world record for the Most people firewalking consecutively - single venue was set at the New Zealand International Fire Festival, where a total of 350 people attempted a fire walk consecutively in a time of 1 hr 20 mins at Dunedin, New Zealand.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the Farthest Distance Firewalking wasset by Trever McGhee from Canada.

  The Eastbourne Scouts organised the fundraising event, hoping to attract 1000 firewalkers.

  Registration was $20 for those over 18 and $10 for those aged 14 to 17 who could provide a parental submission form.

   Most of the money raised will go to expand Aberdare Ranges Primary School for displaced children in Kenya, which has been built with support from Eastbourne lawyer Cassandra Treadwell. She is the driving force behind the aid organisation So They Can, which has built a primary school that now has 400 on its roll.

  The rest of the funds will go to Eastbourne-based Orphans of Nepal Trust.
