 Longest "Human Chair": Japan breaks Guinness world record (VIDEO)

ONOJO CITY, Japan -- 1,311 people gathered at a park in Onojo City, Fukuoka Prefecture, for one noble purpose: to sit on each other lap at an event organized by Onojo City (Japan) at Madoka Park in Onojo, Fukuoka, Japan; they set the new world record for the Longest "Human Chair" / Most people sitting on one chair, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/.

  The event was an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for "Most people sitting on one chair", which had previously been held by a group in Singapore that managed to create a "human chair" of 1058 people.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most people sitting on one chair: 1,311 - achieved at an event organized by Onojo City (Japan) at Madoka Park in Onojo, Fukuoka, Japan.

  The world recod attempt was organized by the Onojo City government to celebrate the city's 40th anniversary of becoming a municipality, who chose the human chair record because it represented the trust and unity among the people of Onojo.

  To break the Guinness world record, a large group of people form a line, standing behind each other with their feet forward and hands on the shoulders of the person in front of them.

  Then, on the count of three, everyone sits on the lap of the person behind them, with the person at the very end of the line sitting on an actual chair. As long as no one starts wriggling around, the newly formed chain should hold itself up.

  In order the qualify for the record, the "chair" must be maintained for longer than one minute.
