  Largest live nativity scene: Utah breaks Guinness World Records' record (VIDEO)

PROVO, UT, USA -- A living nativity display in Utah has broken the Guinness World Records' record for the largest nativity in the world, with 1,039 people as well as a camel and some sheep taking part in the display that was presented to the city of Provo; volunteers and YouTube stars played roles like Mary, Joseph, the shepherds and numerous angels, setting the new world record for the Largest live nativity scene, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/ .

  Photo: Participants donning angel costumes, among other familiar biblical garb, descended upon Rock Canyon Park, where they proceeded to break the previous Guinness World Records' record of 889 participants that was set in the Guinness Book of World Records last year. The record-breaking nativity included a donkey, a camel and sheep as well.

The previous Guinness World Records' record for the most living figures in a nativity scene is 898 and was achieved by Archbishop Temple School (UK) in Preston, Lancashire, UK, on 18 December 2013. The nativity consisted of magi (wise men), shepherds, angels, sheep, cows, inkeepers, Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the Largest nativity scene figures, set by A nativity scene made by Sergio Rodriguez Villarreal of Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico in 1999, using galvanised sheets of steel, wire and tubes, had Kings Melchor and Gaspar measuring 4.7 3m (15.5 ft) tall and 2.05 m (6 ft 8 in) in diameter and King Baltazar measuring 4.6 m (15 ft 1 in) tall, with Mary and Joseph each measuring 5.3 m (17 ft 4 in) tall and 3.4 m (11 ft 1 in) in diameter. Jesus, lying in his manger measured 1.25 m high (4 ft 1 in), 1.23 m (4ft 0.2 in) wide and 1.9 m (6 ft 2 in) long.

    In addition to the 1,039 human participants, there was also a camel and a donkey added to the scene, which was held at Rock Canyon Park, The Christian Post reported.

   David Archuleta from American Idol season seven, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and The Piano Guyswere also part of the event and recorded a musical track for the production that will be posted online before Christmas Day, the Deseret News reports.
