  Largest gathering of people dressed as gorillas: Denver Gorilla Run breaks Guinness World Records' record (VIDEO)

DENVER, CO, USA -- As many as 1,161 runners dressed as gorillas gathered at the Wynkoop Brewing Company on October 26 to raise money for the Mountain Gorilla Conservation fund; they managed to break Denver's previous Guinness World Records' record and to set the new world record for the Largest gathering of people dressed as gorillas, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/ .

The Guinness World Records' record for the largest gathering of people dressed as gorillas involved 1,061 participants, in an event organised by Mountain Gorilla Conservation Fund (USA) in Denver, Colorado, USA, on 31 October 2009.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest gathering of people dressed as Robin Hood; it is 1,215 and was achieved by the Camping and Caravanning Club (UK) at the Newark Showground in Newark, Nottingham, UK.

  The Denver Gorilla Run is a charity fun run with a difference.

  Everyone who takes part wears a full gorilla costume and helps raise funds for the Mountain Gorilla Conservation Fund, the international charity working to save the world's last remaining mountain gorillas and keeping Dian Fossey's dream alive for the past 28 years.

  The race also featured live music and food. With the registration fee runners got to keep their gorilla suits, the CBS Denver reported.

  The run also broke a Guinness World Record for most people dressed as gorillas in one location.

  The event benefits the Mountain Gorilla Conservation Fund.
