  Longest hopscotch game: University of Puget Sound breaks Guinness World Records record (VIDEO)

TACOMA, WA, USA -- It took Brandon Johnson, Graham Robinson and Emma Franz, all of whom graduate from University of Puget Sound in a couple of weeks, 1 hour and 41 minutes to finish a 3.8-mile hopscotch course at the University of Puget Sound , thus setting the new world record for the Longest hopschotch game, according to the World Record Academy .

The Guinness World Records' record for the longest hopscotch game measures 5,506 m (18,064 ft 3 in) and was created by Step UP 4 Change, Right to Play at the University of Guelph and Free the Children at the University of Guelph (all Canada) in Eden Mills, Ontario, Canada, on 1 October 2011. The entire length of the course was completed by several participants, as requested by the guidelines.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most people playing hopscotch simultaneously; it is 359 and was achieved by Round Hills Elementary School (USA), in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, on 20 May 2013.

    The previous Guinness World Records world record was 3.42 miles in 2011 at the University of Guelph, near Toronto. Johnson said his course was surveyed at 3.8 miles, The News Tribune reports.

     It took about 50 volunteers to organize and host the event, Johnson said.

    Donations at the event will go toward Puget Sound youth programs. The course is open to the public as long as it lasts, but Johnson said parts of it will be undone for graduation.
