  Largest washer toss tournament: world record set in East Hants

    East Hants, N.S., Canada -- A total of 628 people came out for the washer toss tournament at the East Hants Sportsplex in Lantz, N.S., thus setting the new world record for Largest washer toss tournament , according to the World Record Academy .

The Guinness World Records world record for the largest beach volleyball tournament consists of 968 players and was achieved by the Heatwave for SickKids Beach Volleyball Tournament (Canada) at Ashbridge's Bay Park in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on 12 July 2014.

    Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest table tennis tournament was achieved by 2,048 participants in an event organized by the Baiyun Sports Bureau (China) in Guangzhou, China, on 31 March 2013.

    There were 628 people gathered at the East Hants Sportsplex in Lantz, N.S., to try and break the Guinness World Record for largest washer toss tournament.

   The event was put together as part of Tide Fest, a first-year festival to support the local area, The CBC News reports.

     The current Guinness world record took place in Wise County, TX with 486 participants.
