 Most people tossing pizza dough: Shanghai breaks Guinness World Records record

SHANGHAI, China -- Staff and members of a breast cancer association More Than Aware (MTA) were seen simultaneously stretching and tossing the dough at the Pudong Shangri-La hotel; the 511 participants, most of whom were cancer survivors, needed to continue for a minimum of one minute, thus setting the new world record for the most people tossing pizza dough, according to the World Record Academy .

The Guinness World Records' record for the most people tossing pizza dough is 338 and was achieved by Papa John's Ltd. (UK) in London, UK, on 26 June 2015.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most pizzas made in 12 hours by a team; it is 5,070 and was achieved by Ristorante Sportivi Paradiso (Switzerland) and the Istituto Nazionale della Pizza (Italy), in Chiasso, Switzerland, on 27 June 2015.

   Each portion of pizza dough had to measure at least 30.5 cm in diameter at the end of the record attempt.

   None of the dough went to waste as it was used to make pizzas which were sold at a charity event held to honour Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

    The previous Guinness World Records record was set with 388 Papa John's staff tossing pizza in London in June.

   All of the proceeds will be donated to MTA's breast cancer awareness and prevention program.
