  Largest packaged food mosaic: Dubai breaks Guinness World Records' record


DUBAI, UAE -- Measuring 24.7 metres (81 feet) in length and 38.6 metres (126 feet) in width, the packaged food mosaic created by by 149 employees from Sharp Middle East & Africa consisted of 79,300 packs of food; smashing the Guinness World Records' record, the unusual creation was masterminded at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre — with the total of the food packets totalling Dh107,480 and
setting the new world record for the Largest packaged food mosaic, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/ .

The Guinness World Records' record for the largest canned food structure consisted of 247,580 cans and was achieved by the Architecture Students of Chulalongkorn University and the Food Industry Network Co.,Ltd. (both Thailand) at the IMPACT Exhibition Centre, Nonthaburi, Thailand.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest distribution of food samples; it was achieved by Kraft Foods of Brazil and organized by Saraguato Promotional Marketing (both Brazil), who distributed 623,111 samples of Club Social crackers in Salvador, Brazil.

  After completion of the record-breaking mosaic, Sharp donated all the food packages with the total value of Dh107,480 to the UAE Red Crescent Authority. This activity was a part of the larger CSR initiative called 'Sharp Cares' that the company actively engages in for the region.

  "We're very proud for breaking the Guinness World Records' title for the largest packaged food mosaic and to make UAE a holder of a new record. Sharp is committed to not only serve its regional customers but to also play an increasingly important role in the community,"said Zahid Rahman, General Manager, Business Operations, Sharp Middle East and Africa.

  Commenting on the achievement, Emirates Red Crescent Society manager for the Dubai branch Mohammed Abdullah Alhaj Al Zaroni, said: "We are extremely grateful to Sharp for their donation as contributions of this scale is what makes a real difference to our ongoing efforts to help those in need within the UAE."

  The Guinness World Records title was previously held in Hong Kong, China where a packaged food mosaic measuring 20.7m in length and 30.9m in width was created in 2009.
