 Largest Collection of Cookie Jars: Edith Eva Fuchs breaks Guinness world record

METAMORA, Ind., USA -- Edith Eva Fuchs, 77, has 2,653 different cookie jars on display at Grannie's Cookie Jars and Ice Cream Parlor in Metamora; the collection has garnered her the World Record for the World's Largest Collection of Cookie Jars , according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/ .

 The Guinness world record for the largest collection of cookie jars belongs to Edith Eva Fuchs (USA) and consists of 2,653 as of 20 August 2012, in Metamora, Indiana, USA.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest collection of individual bottle openers, which belongs to Marinus Van Doorn (Netherlands) and consists of 33,492 in Veghel, Netherlands.

  Grannie is Eva Fuchs, who owns the ice cream parlor on Lovers Lane in Metamora with Paul, her husband of 59 years.
  In nearly six decades together, they have shared five children, 12 grandchildren, eight grandchildren, and thousands of cookie jars.

  The total number of jars in Grannie's collection is actually more than 7,000 and growing. However, the additional 5,000-6,000 are duplicates of others on display.

  The cookie jar collection has expanded since being setting the world record.

  Fuchs now owns more than 2,700 non-duplicated cookie jars, as well as more than 1,000 salt n' pepper shakers and a growing collection of teapots.

   A Hopalong Cassidy jar, made with real gold, is on sale for $800. It's one of only 250 made, Fuchs said. And you can get a deal on some $15 jars, too.
