  Longest pop-up book: Taiwan breaks Guinness world record

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- A pop-up book created by students and teachers in Greater Taichung, which portrays a family of four touring 148 scenic spots in Taichung, including Wuchi Fishing Harbor and Dajia Jenn Lann Temple, has 296 pages and measures 106m when the pages are arranged side-by-side, setting the new world record for the longest pop-up book , according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/ .

 The previous Guinness world record for the largest pop-up book measured 4 m (13 ft 1 in) by 3 m (9 ft 10 in) when closed. The book, entitled "My Word", was completed on 6 September 2010 for a television commercial advertising Pearle Opticiens (Belgium).

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the Longest audio book, which was set by the audio book "50 Lectures" by Takaaki Yoshimoto (Japan) is 6,943 minutes (115 hours 43 minutes), making it the longest audio book.

  The world's longet pop-up book was created by 250 students and teachers from 63 junior-high and elementary schools in Taichung, who responded to a request from Taichung Municipal Hui Wen Elementary School.

  Addressing the accreditation ceremony, Taichung Mayor Jason Hu (???) said that the previous Guinness world record for the longest pop-up book was set in the Czech Republic, and was 9m.

  "It's quite a feat for this collective creation in Taichung to achieve a length of 106m," Hu said.
