  Largest inflatable beach ball: Blackpool breaks Guinness World Records' record (VIDEO)

Blackpool, UK -- The #BlackpoolsBack beach ball is measuring a staggering 18m in diameter; the orange and white beach ball was custom-made, weighing in at 400kg - about the same as an adult horse and it sets the new world record for the Largest inflatable beach ball, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/ .

The Guinness World Records' record for the largest inflatable beach ball is 15.82 (51ft 10 in) in diameter and was created by Real,- (Poland). It was presented and measured in Czluchow, Poland, on 8 May 2012. The beach ball looked like a football from the outside.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest rugby ball; it is 4.709 m (15 ft 5.39 in) long and 2.95 m (9 ft 8.14 in) tall and was achieved by Cathay Pacific Airways Limited for the Cathay Pacific/Credit Suisse Hong Kong Sevens 2011 in Hong Kong, China, on 15 March 2011.

   Previously, the largest inflatable beach ball in the world measured 15.82 metres in diameter and was created by supermarket group Real in Poland on 8 May 2012.   

   The #BlackpoolsBack beach ball smashed that world record by more than two metres and is being used to highlight a new drive to encourage families to try out a holiday or short break at the iconic seaside resort, the Lancashire Evening Post reported.

   The initiative aims to challenge any negative perceptions of the resort, by reminding families of everything Blackpool has to offer.
