  Largest coin mosaic: British Airways breaks Guinness World Records record (VIDEO)

LONDON, UK -- To celebrate the start of 'The Big British Airways Take Off', which features great value fares on flights and holidays, the airline has created the world's biggest piece of coin art at Heathrow Airport; 600,000 coins were delivered from a London bank vault and a team of seven created the 10 metre by eight metre image of The Statue of Liberty, which took six hours to complete and sets
the new world record for the Largest coin mosaic, according to the World Record Academy .
Measuring ten metres by eight metres, this staggering image of The Statue of Liberty was made from 600,00 pennies loaned by a London vault.

The Guinness World Records' record for the largest coin mosaic measures 156 m² (1680.49 ft²) and was achieved by Evergreen Middle School (USA) in Hillsboro, Orgeon, USA, on 18 April 2015.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest coin pyramid; it consists of 1,000,935 coins and was built by Vytautas Jakštas and Domas Jokubauskis (both Lithuania) at the Money Museum of the Bank of Lithuania in Vilnius, Lithuania, and completed on 29 November 2014.

    600,000 coins were delivered from a London bank vault and a team of seven created the 10 metre by eight metre image of The Statue of Liberty, which took six hours to complete.

    New York is British Airways ' flagship destination.

    Sara Dunham, British Airways' head of marketing, retail and direct, said: "We've decided to re-create an iconic image from one of our most popular destinations to celebrate the 'Big British Airways Take Off' this week. We offer a great range of fares and holiday packages, which will allow our customers to bank plenty of money to spend on their holidays".

    British Airways operates a joint-business with American Airlines, offering 13 direct flights and 1,000 flat beds a day to New York's JFK airport.
